Stalin plaza with Michal Kubala

I´m really happy I have so many creative people around me.
One of them is for sure my very good friend Michal Kubala !
Michal is a amazing photographer, who has a very good eye for details and He knows how to catch the right moment .

We met randomly on one snowboard event two years ago, when I returned from Sri lanka.
Since that night we became very good friends and we support each others work.
One month ago We had a photoshooting of my diy skateboard designs and vans shoes on my favourite place in Prague called Stalin plaza. In the past there was a huge statue of the dictator Josif Stalin, which was later demolished and they build a metronome on his place.

I love to spend time here, because you have a nice view on  Prague and it´s also surrounded by trees, meadows and parks so you can just sit down and rest, paint or just enjoy your day off.
Stalin plaza is also a famous skate spot and you can watch many skaters from all over the world doing their tricks here.
After sunset you can just grab a bottle of wine or beer ,sit down, chill next to the metronome and enjoy the ligts of night Prague with your friends.

Thank you Michal Kubala for the amazing pictures of me and my designs !

Riders on the storm

I made this "Riders on the storm" skate design specialy for my friend Tom Granier ( France ).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaDa7Eb4VcM
He asked me to paint a skate for him after he saw some of my works on my instagram profile.
https://www.instagram.com/zabkasworld/
His only criteria were : to use Mountains,The Doors, cupcake and plush.
First I thought it will be hard to connect all these themes into one design, but after I watched some of Tom´s freeski video edits and listened to some songs from The Doors I had it !

I draw The Doors portraits into clouds and placed them over the mountains.
But the picture was too blue for me ,so I draw the pink sunset in the background .It makes the perfect contrast to the blue color and now the whole design looks more oldschool ,too.
I choose pink ,also because fluff animals are from plush and mostly are pink,so I used next item from the themes which Tom wanted for his design. The only thing I didnt use is the cake, because that would not fit into the concept of this design. I fixed the final picture with a transparent, spray lacquer.

I´m happy I could paint something for this guy ,who loves and enjoyes the nature so much as me .
I already send the skateboard to him,so I hope he will send me some  pictures when he receives it.
Have fun Tom ! ...and " for the few !"

AGI BAGI shoes

Making custom Vans shoes for kids and their Mums is always so much fun !
This time Andrea a friend of mine from Košice( Slovakia ) asked me to paint something on shoes for them. She ordered a set of shoes inspired after the favourite cartoon of her little son Riško. It´s called Agi Bagi and I must say I never heard about it before...So,I had to make a little internet research, before I started to paint them.I must say , I started to really  like the small ,green things from it,because they look really funny with all the funky faces they make. I hope Andrea and her son Richard will enjoy wearing them !

I made some more detail pictures of the making of the shoes so you can see the whole proces of shoe painting ...here you are :

Abadoned places in Prague

Oh , How I love to explore the abadoned places !
Everytime I find some,itś like a treasure hunt for me.

This winter in Prague really sucks...Itś warm and no snow at all.
But it has also itś bright sides...
On one of these sunny, winter days ( it was 12 degrees ) ,We decided to go investigate some abadoned buildings neer the Barrandov studios with my friend Maggie.

First We got little lost... ,but then We found a squat house and We decided to discover what´s inside.
Even it was full of trash and totaly burned down,it still had some of his magic.
And when I entered the huge balcony on the second floor of it I had an amazing view on Prague.

Then we found the right way to the famous Barrandov terraces.
The whole project of the Barrandov terraces was built by the famous architect Max Urban and the investor Vaclav Havel. The grand oppening of the terraces was on 4th of October 1929.
It was inspired from the famous restauration pavilon in San Francisco ( USA ) ,called The Cliff House ,which is situated on a rock over the Pacific ocean.

One year later ( 1930 ) they build also a swimming pool under the barrandov rock.
The pool was 50m long with a 15m high springboard.
At that time it was the most modern swimming pool in Europe.
In 1937 they build here the Trilobit bar (architekt V.Grégr).The french restaurant and the Trilobit bar were furnished with the functional furniture by the architekt Hana Kučerová-Záveská.
The barrandov terraces area was never closed .The famous czech orchestra of the R.A. Dvorský was playing outside on the terraces untill 19:00 and than in the Trilobit bar until morning hours.
So it was open from morning to another morning and they say that many people stayed there also for breakfast...

Now ,It´s just a abadoned place, nostalgic memory of the good old times.
If you visit this place you can still imagine how it was to sit on the terraces, listen to the orchestra and enjoying the summer breeze in your hair.

Losers and Heroes

I think you all saw my last year project - Vans Heroes shoes edition.
I made it for one Czech dance group called the Losers. They will have this year a theater performance with the superheroes theme and they will dance on stage in the Vans shoes                                                                                    painted by me.

Losers and their Heroes vans shoes.
I can´t wait to see the performance of these amazing dancers !
And you all are invited to see the connection of my art and their movements on one stage.
I loved to work on their shoes and I hope for more creative works like this.
See ya in the theater "Losers" !

Jakub quards the heroes...

Kaleidoscope skate design

I just finished another skate design for the RIDE FOR HAPPINESS exhibition.
This one is called Kaleidoscope.
I took the inspiration from my favorite children´s toy, lion, feathers and mandalas.
This time I also made a little sketch ,but than I painted the whole design in a little different style.

For painting the skateboard I used edding markers and white acrylic color.
It took me 2 nights to finish this design, but I enjoyed the work on it so much...It was one of those works ,when U start to paint and U can´t sleep until it´s finished.

Jakub was looking after me all the time ...

And here is the finished Kaleidoscope skateboard design ! U will see all three skateboards painted by                                           me at the upcomming exhibition in Prague soon.
